Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 31, 2026

1. Who we are

gasp is operated by CupNoodle Labs LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the gasp mobile application ("the App").

2. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, date of birth, and username. Date of birth is used solely to verify you are 18 or older and to assign a generational cohort to your stories — it is never displayed to other users.

Content you create. Stories, story updates (episodes), comments, poll votes, and drama ratings you submit are stored on our servers. Stories and comments are posted anonymously — your username is only attached to comments on your own stories.

Device and usage data. We collect your push notification token (if you grant permission), device type and OS version (provided automatically by the platform), and usage analytics such as screen views, taps, story views, and app session timing.

Product analytics. We use a product analytics provider (PostHog) to understand how the App is used and to improve it. Analytics events are tied only to your randomly assigned account identifier — never to your real name or email. Our analytics include session replay, which records in-app interactions; all text and images are masked before they leave your device, so the content of stories, comments, and form fields is never captured. Analytics events carry only IDs and category values, not the content you write.

Diagnostics and crash data. We use an error-monitoring provider (Sentry) to capture crash reports and technical error data — such as device model, OS version, and a stack trace — so we can find and fix bugs.

Purchases and subscriptions. If you buy a premium subscription or other paid feature, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store), and managed through our payments provider (RevenueCat). We receive a transaction identifier, the product purchased, and your subscription status (for example, active, expired, or renewing). We never receive or store your full payment card number, bank details, or billing address — those are handled entirely by the app store and its payment processors.

Moderation data. When you report content or another user, we store that report. If your content is reviewed by our moderation system (automated or human), we store the moderation decision and reason.

Data we do NOT collect. We do not collect your real name, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We do not use advertising SDKs and we do not sell your data to third parties.

3. How we use your information

4. How we share your information

We do not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under California law, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising). We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymize your profile, remove personal identifiers (email, date of birth, push token), and ban the authentication record. Your stories and comments remain visible (attributed to a deleted account) for community continuity, consistent with how the App works as an anonymous platform.

Content that remains after deletion is no longer associated with your identity, and we do not attempt to re-identify it. We may retain limited information where permitted by law — for example, to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud or abuse, or maintain security.

Moderation records and audit logs are retained indefinitely for safety and legal compliance.

6. Your rights and choices

California residents. You have the right to know, delete, and correct the personal information we hold about you, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us at privacy@readgasp.com.

If you are located in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with specific data protection rights (such as GDPR), you may have additional rights including data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us at privacy@readgasp.com to exercise these rights.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level database security, server-side secret management, and rate limiting. No system is perfectly secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take reasonable precautions.

8. Children

gasp is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account.

9. International users

The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
